Resignation opens seat for President Biden’s new nominee Rohit Chopra

WASHINGTON — Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Kathy Kraninger submitted her resignation Wednesday soon after the inauguration of new President Joe Biden. In her resignation letter, Kraninger wrote she was doing so “as requested by the Biden administration.”

In response, U.S. PIRG Consumer Campaign Director Mike Litt released the following statement:

“With Kathy Kraninger’s departure, the CFPB can immediately return to performing its one job: protecting consumers. President Biden’s nominee to direct the Bureau, Rohit Chopra, is just the person to right the course, investigate financial wrongdoers and put more money back in the pockets of Americans.”
